Chapter History
The Aiken (SC) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated had its beginnings more than 30 years ago, the vivacious insight and wisdom of a local group of women called the Aiken GEMS. The first organizational meeting was held in 1982. Many organizational and planning meetings were held from 1982-1986. In 1987, the organization was notified of their “Interest Group Status”. December 1989, Chapter Establishment Officer, JoAhn Brown-Nash, linked 22 strong women into a bond that remains. Upon the recommendation by Ms. Brown-Nash, the organization grew from 22 to 27 members. On April 1989, Aiken (SC) Chapter of the Links, Incorporated was officially chartered. The Aiken (SC) Chapter became the sixth chapter in South Carolina and holds the distinction of being the first chapter to be chartered and installed in South Carolina in 25 years.
